Charoda had been the first residential place for a Priest in the Bhilai-Durg area. On October 1, 1965 St. Vincent Pallotti parish was erected and Rev. Fr. Francis X. Paul was appointed the first parish priest. In the same year, the first batch of the Vincentian Fathers reached Raipur. Rev. Fr.George Vempilly, VC was appointed the parish priest. Charoda has also been blessed with the services of Frs. Augustine Nadayam, Udumala Chinnappa, Stephan Gomez and later on with the diocesan priests starting with Fr. Thomas Nedumkallel of happy memory. The parish has a mixed community of Anglo-Indians, Telugu, Tamil, and Tribals. The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (F.I.H) run two English Medium Schools (CBSE and CG Board) and the Jyoti Hospital in Charoda.
