Balco was made a parish in 1986 and Rev. Fr. Joseph T. V., SAC was  the first parish priest. He constructed the present presbytery. Because of  the Aluminium plant a township had sprung up. The church was built  during the tenure of Rev. Fr. Vincent Thottupattu, SAC. The Catholic  population is on decrease as the old ones retire and settle elsewhere. There  are not many Catholics coming to this place for jobs. Hence the catholic  population is quite thin.
